2008-2009 Preschool Program Overview

The Y’s Preschool program creates an appropriate environment in which the individual child can mature socially, mentally and physically at his/her own pace. Within the environment each child explores the creative arts, music, language and number concepts with sensitive, caring educators who skillfully encourage self-expression. The Terre Haute Family Y Preschool subscribes to the academic standards for the young child as set forth by the Indiana Department of Education. Our curriculum provides foundations in language arts, mathematics, science, social studies, physical education and health, music and the visual arts.

Daily Schedule
8:30-8:55 Circle Time
8:55-10:00 Centers (Art, Math, Science, Writing, Reading, Blocks, Small Motor/ Manipulatives, Computer, Listening)
10:05-10:15 Group Activity (Music, Story, Dance, Exercise)
10:15-10:25 Clean Up/Snack
10:25-10:55 Gross Motor Activity (Outside if weather permits)
10:55-11:00 Review of Day

ENROLLMENT
To enroll in the Y’s Preschool nine month program please schedule an appointment with the preschool teacher, Bethany Cooper. Children must be 3 years of age by August 1, 2008 for the Early Pre-K Explorers class.

TUITION
Tuition for the year is divided into nine equal payments, September through May. Payments are due the first class of every month. The first payment is due before the first class. Financial Assistance is available for those who can demonstrate need.

ABOUT THE PRESCHOOL TEACHER
The Y’s preschool teacher is Mrs. Bethany Cooper. She is a graduate of Ivy Tech Community College with a degree in Early Childhood Education. She brings a wealth of experience to the Terre Haute Family Y Preschool Program. She spent seven years in a preschool setting and is the proud parent of a four year old daughter and enjoys spending time outdoors with her family.
